What you need to do to create an Executive Presence to get a seat at the "Leadership Table"?

Are you an Executive or an aspiring one looking to use their skills and abilities to take the next career leadership leap?  More specifically are you trying to achieve the following objectives??
  • Have recruiters contact YOU about high-level positions
  • Stand out and RISE ABOVE peers within your company & industry
  • Land COVETED corporate board seat opportunities
  • Get asked to speak at EXCLUSIVE professional events
  • Gain RESPECT as a trusted advisory in your space

LISTEN UP HERE ARE SOME OF THE ACTIONS YOU NEED TO TAKE AS A LEADERSHIP CANDIDATE TO ACHIEVE THOSE OBJECTIVES!

  • Do some research on people you respect as Leaders to see how their Professional Social Media presence is set up.  (Check out what content they share, what Associations they are part of and people they follow.)  This will help you assess your executive presence to determine (what you should convey online in respect to any leadership or mentoring initiatives, content around problems you have solved OR just sharing knowledge of others letting people know you are committed to growing in your industry.)
  • Learn how to make your resume, LinkedIn profile, and other professional branding tools say more by intentionally sharing less.  Meaning don't over fluff or inflate what you are trying to say about yourself with a lot of extra words or "buzz words" to make you sound smart.  Be informative, give examples BUT most important be brief in your messaging so viewers don't have to work hard to define what you are saying and why its important.  BECAUSE THEY WON'T, they will just gloss over your profile and move to the next.  The goal is to get them to "Land" and stay for a while!
  • Create a "content tree" to make sure you are sharing on a regular basis.  Even sharing content you wrote or read once or twice a week will keep you current in your networks feeds.  "Out of mind out of sight" is what you want to avoid!
  • Select the right types of content to share to maximize your ROI.  Researching real problems/solutions in your industry that are current and sharing that will give you the presence as a "Thought Leader" and Industry Expert in your area.

Do you want to interview well or interview to win the job?

Interviewing well doesn't necessarily winning the job.  You as a candidate can perform well on the interview but will that necessarily equate to getting the offer? Maybe OR Maybe Not!  Here are some tips to help increase your odds significantly of getting that offer!

1) Interview prep starts BEFORE you apply.
The moment you start applying, you should be ready to answer the difficult questions.  If you mentally prepare to answer these, it will help prepare you for most of the questions asked on the interview.
  • Tell me about yourself?
  • Talk to me about how you make an impact in your role?
  • Tell me about a time you had a difficult internal/external customer situation and what you did to turn that around?
  • What is it about your current role you like and don't like?
  • What is the next role you see on your horizon?

2) Each type of interview is different so its important to know your audience!
  • Recruiters screen you for basic fit.
  • Hiring managers screen you to see if you’ll make their life easier or harder.
  • HR wants to make sure you are a cultural fit.
  • CEOs want to make sure you are worth the money.
Knowing how to address each person in the interview process you meet with will help increase your odds of getting the offer because everyone really does weigh in on the decision.

3) Behavioral Questions are meant to get inside your head to see what motivates you and the depth of your knowledge.
Using the Growth Model to sum up your background which is your Experience + What you Learn = How you have grown professionally when crafting your responses.

STRATEGIC BEHAVIROAL QUESTION ANSWERS
  • Tell me about yourself (Lay out the story from a high level of your career progression, what you have learned throughout your career, motivations for why you do what you do and what makes you proud.  When you can paint a story about your career that a hiring manager can visualize helps them connect better with you.)
  • Give Examples of impacts you have made on projects showing the success and your part.
  • Show examples demonstrating how you have made life easier for your past managers and any significant accomplishments you can tie to numbers.

"The Great Resignation" Strategies To Do It The Right Way

10/29/2021

Research has shown that people quitting their jobs since the beginning of 2021 is in the millions. Some have nicknamed it "The Great Resignation"!

The unfortunate thing is that the amount of opportunities are getting so overwhelming and unless "YOU" the candidate know exactly what you are looking for, costly mistakes are being made where candidates are taking the wrong job putting themselves in a worst situation then what they had. Even if the money is better.  So if you think you can benefit from a move like this, how should you strategically and do it in a smart way?

Here are some tips to do this strategically
  1. Do the research and not just on the organization you are looking to join but internal research on yourself. Take inventory on what you really want out of a role and your values you hold in high regard in the next position and company you go to work for.
  2. Executives are realizing they need to discover what drives them professionally and what aspects of their job they can get excited about.
  3. Try to find a seasoned Recruiter or Career Coach who is in the business that you trust to give you some "real" advice and not just tell you what you want to hear.  They can coach you in how to hone in on your unique value that you bring to the table as an executive.
  4. Discover what you're truly passionate about in the executive space.
  5.  Learn how to share your knowledge and expertise online to help build your executive presence.
